Neuseeland war in letzter Zeit schon zweimal Thema in unserem Magazin, BB & The Bullets<\/a> als auch das Duo Atua Blues<\/a> hinterlie\u00dfen dabei einen durchaus passablen Eindruck. Musikalisch verbinde ich bis dato eher die Namen Crowded House (u. a. „Don’t Dream It’s Over“, „It’s Only Natural“) und nat\u00fcrlich Keith Urban<\/a>, der zumindest dort geboren wurde.<\/p>\n

Solomon Cole ist demnach bis dato ein unbeschriebenes Blatt in meiner Review- Laufbahn. Er stammt aus Waiheke Island, einer Insel die ca. 40 Minuten mit dem Boot von Auckland entfernt liegt, wo auch der Videoclip<\/a> zur ersten Single „Get Up Get On“, ein stampfiger Country-Blues (mit viel Dobro-Slide), gedreht wurde.<\/p>\n

Im Prinzip muss man, um sich die Musik des Protagonisten einigerma\u00dfen vorstellen zu k\u00f6nnen, eigentlich nur einen genauen Blick auf das Coverbild der CD werfen, das den Protagonisten in einer d\u00fcsteren Waldlandschaft mit seiner Dobro zeigt, die auch hier reichhaltig zum Einsatz kommt.<\/p>\n

Man schmei\u00dfe Ingredienzien von Johnny Cash, Son Volt<\/a>, Howlin‘ Wolf, Tom Waits, Tony Joe White<\/a> und Nick Cave in einen brodelnden Topf und erh\u00e4lt ungef\u00e4hr ein musikalisches Gebr\u00e4u, dem Solomon Cole hier Gen\u00fcge tr\u00e4gt,<\/p>\n

Der Titelsong „“Ain’t Got Time To Die““, ein gospeliger Contryblues mit Waits-m\u00e4\u00dfigem Leadgesang, hallender Orgel, atmosph\u00e4rischen E-Fills und starkem Slide-Solo, weiblichen Gospel-Harmonies, ist zurecht Namensgeber des Werkes.<\/p>\n

Das Album „Ain’t Got Time To Die“ von Solomon Cole ist nichts f\u00fcr musikalische Warmduscher. Ein schroffer, rauer, swampiger und schwerm\u00fctiger Mix aus Blues, Country, ein wenig Southern Rock und Gospel. Das ist was f\u00fcr Leute, die gerne Pr\u00e4senz zeigen und Wiederstand leisten, wenn es auch mal ungem\u00fctlich wird und Gegenwind herrscht. F\u00fcr Diejenigen halt, die keine Zeit zum Sterben haben…<\/p>\n
