Das neue Album, des in Chicago lebenden John McDonough, \u201eWe`ll Answer The Call\u201c, erz\u00e4hlt die wahre Geschichte eines amerikanischen Ruderteams, das 1936 bei den olympischen Spielen in Berlin antrat, Gold zu gewinnen. Dies mag auch der Grund sein, warum es als EP erscheint, da mit den f\u00fcnf Songs die Geschichte geschrieben ist.<\/p>\n

Stilistisch bewegt sich McDonough in den Welten des Americana mit gewissen Folk und New Country-Einfl\u00fcssen.
Tragendes Element ist die ausdrucksstarke und klare Stimme McDonoughs, welche zuweilen mit der eines Elton Johns oder Van Morrisons verglichen wird.<\/p>\n

Aber auch beim Songwriting beweist er ein feines H\u00e4ndchen mit einpr\u00e4gsamen Harmonienund akzentuiert eingesetzten Instrumenten. Wenn die Gitarre bei manchen Soli slidend eingesetzt wird, werden die Songs sogar in mit einem leichten Southern-Flair umh\u00fcllt, w\u00e4hrend der Einsatz von Piano und Violine klare Elemente des Americana und Country\/Folk bedienen.<\/p>\n

So entstand trotz der eher ruhigen Songs ein sehr abwechslungsreiches Album, das best\u00e4tigt, warum McDonough in den letzten Jahren auch f\u00fcr Awards im Bereich Roots und Blues nominiert wurde.<\/p>\n

F\u00fcr Freunde des Americana oder des New Country ist das Album empfehlenswert und es bleibt zu hoffen, dass McDonough auch einmal in Europa touren wird.<\/p>\n
